Founded in 1939, the mission of the Southern California Committee for the Olympic Games is to promote the Olympic movement in the Los Angeles area. In furtherance of its mission the SCCOG has sponsored numerous sporting events over the years, and in conjunction with the City of Los Angeles has submitted 11 bids to host the Olympic Games.
